Alain-Guy Giraudon is a paradox: born in Auvergne, the rural and very provincial center of France, he fell prey early in life to the attraction of fashion and style, and to the charms of travel. He finally settled in the city of his dreams, New York, and opened a shoe store in Soho - not because he knew about shoes, just because he always liked shoes. He first tried his own hand at designing in 1990, and customers voted with their feet. His 2nd collection won success with both the public and retailers. One constant characteristic: Giraudon's collections always flow from the very feminine to the very masculine in a seamless manner.
