One of our new favourite handcraft labels is Osborn. Not only does this amazing brand have a beautiful creative vision, they also have an inspiring approach to craftsmanship and design.
Co-founder Aaron Osborn, whose family runs one of the largest orphanages in Guatemala, stumbled upon the idea for Osborn in 2007 when he met an out-of-work cobbler while doing charitable work in the country. He and co-founder, Carla Osborn, were searching for a way to combine humanitarian efforts with a fashion project. This search led to Osborn Shoes.

All the materials for each shoe are individually hand-cut and each shoe is hand assembled by skilled craftsmen. Osborn’s vertically integrated manufacturing practice establishes a work environment that is sweat-shop free, worker driven and brand focused. Each shoe is signed by its maker, as a testament to the sense of pride for the maker, as well as its wearer.
While we dont have any preview shots of the shoes soon to come, we have managed to source some inspiration images from their blog . The richness of colours and textures in these photos taken in Guatemala City are exquisite. And if you're anything like us they will have you brimming with excitement for what they are bringing us for spring!

We're excited to introduce a wonderful new accessory line to Umeboshi! While we instantly fell in love with the raw yet sophisticated feel and brilliant use of colours of these hand crafted bangles, it was the concept behind KORA that really touched us.
KORA merges the luxury market and sustainable business development so that both may benefit from the unique offerings of the other. Each hand made piece is crafted from recycled materials found and used by local artisans in African developing communities. By paying fair prices for product they provide the artisans with the crucial capital to build their businesses.

These incredible Ruma Bangles are made from the horn of Ankole, an African indigenous cow that is used in the agriculture industry. These horns that are normally discarded as by-product are now being "rescued" and transformed into beautiful and unique natural art. The brass wrapping is created by repurposing industrial wires sourced from Kenya and is crafted by hand in a workshop in Haruma, Nairobi.

Ruma Bangles $48 - $52 available in primary yellow, rose and natural (not shown).
