Often, the intrigue of an object lies in the profile, or the silhouette.  When shopping for shoes, we recommend considering all angles.

Camper has arrived for Fall/Winter 2009.  The designs may be simple, and functional as Camper always is, but we really appreciate the lines and shapes that are created with each and every seam and carefully sculpted sole.  Each design is thoughtful and accessible, and we love seeing how differently each Camper shoe looks and adapts to your individual style.

Umeboshi Welcomes - Frye!
October 9 2009 @ 12:00:00 PM

Founded in 1863 by John A.Frye, a prominent English shoemaker, the Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States.

Frye's footwear has a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by Union and Confederate soldiers during America's Civil War, as well as soldiers in the Spanish-American War. When homesteading sparked adventurous New England families to go West in the mid and late 1800's, many of these pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot. There was nothing like the Frye Boot on the market at the time, and consumers began to demand the "Original Frye's." The Smithsonian Institute, in their search for items to best represent 1960's America, chose a pair of Frye Boots, which proudly remain on display today.

Now at Umeboshi, and the rest is history.....

So what's Folk and Shofolk all about?

Folk is a casual menswear brand born in 2001 in London. Shofolk the sister (and brother) footwear collection for men and women, followed in 2004.

Shofolk is designed by the same team and has the same ethos combining distinctive shapes with natural leathers to create functional yet stylish footwear. Production is limited to keep the quality levels high with a nice by product that their owners are unlikely to bump into someone wearing the same pair.

Inspirations can't be nailed down to specifics, ideas come from all over but mainly from what we see and hear each day in London. Shapes, colours, and textures play a big part in what we do.

Shofolk is made in a small family owned factory in the heart of shoe making country in North Portugal. They have 60 years experience in hand crafting shoes and this skill combined with leathers imported from Italy brings our designs to life.

New arrivals from Argila, Zeha, Frye, Filippa K, and Dolce Vita have also rolled in! Images coming soon...
